EXAM OPPORTUNITIES
Our Pre-Preparatory Bright Stars Bright Stars kids can take an 'In class Assessment' for their comfort. In class assessments are there to build 'performance confidence' & enable the young student to become familiar with the exam process & environment
Skills they have been working on are performed and assessed by their teacher. Once completed, they receive a Gold Star Trophy Award, Certificate and Report. There is a mini 'Award Ceremony' to celebrate their success where parents are invited to join and support
Preparatory and Primary examinations are taken through BTDA (British Theatre Dance Association). These are QCF qualifications accredited with GQAL & are internationally recognised. These examinations are assessed by BTDA Examiners under the usual process
Children may also take Pre-Primary & Primary examinations in RAD Ballet (Royal Academy of Dance). Classes and Examinations for RAD are held separately
Once Pre-Preparatory, Preparatory and Primary levels are completed, children naturally move onto the BSS Academy Programme and begin Grade 1
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
All BSS Bright Stars children will automatically be included in our school performances which are held at professional theatres. Children may also become a member of 'BSS Bright Stars Elite' – Our beginner competition & performance team
If a child is 6 years or over, and showing the required level of aptitude for performance, they may also be eligible to take part in events such as: Royal Albert Hall and Disneyland Paris
PROGRESSION
Once Pre-Preparatory, Preparatory and Primary levels are complete, children move onto the Academy programme that begins at Grade 1 of all subjects. Children move out of the Bright Stars Class at this point
AGENCY REPRESENTATION
We have established connections with reputable agents, both London and locally, who often call for children to participate in commercial, modelling, Theatre and TV. This opportunity is open to all Bright Stars children
FEES
There is a special fee of £10 for 2 hours
Fees are paid weekly via bank transfer – Please contact the office for transfer information
SAFETY + WELLBEING
Our staff hold Enhanced DBS Certificates. There are full and safe toilet facilities at each of our venues. If a child is unable to visit the toilet alone, we ask parents to remain at BSS during class time to assist their child
Please see our 'Child Protection Policy' for further information regarding how we support children and their families
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) – We will not share your information with any other organisation and will only contact you for purposes of information or with regards to your child
We ask that every student completes a 'Personal Information' form, which details general contact info and any medical, or other observations you feel we need to be made aware of
First Aid facilities and response are available on site
Safeguarding: Children have registration at the beginning of the class. At the end of their class, the child will be physically escorted to their parent. We ask that if another person (other than a parent/guardian) is picking up your child, that BSS be made aware, as we will not permit the child to leave the premises without BSS having sought the parents permission
PARENTS + GUARDIANS
We generally encourage parents to wait in our waiting room outside the class as it is less distracting. Under usual circumstances, parents initially stay in class until their child settles in & then gradually take steps back to allow their child to become more independent
We would politely ask that Parents/Guardians wear a face mask for COVID Safety
Parents are kept up to date with student progression on a regular basis
We are happy to assist with enquiries and if you would like to contact us, please use the office details found in 'CONTACT US'

a Bright star experience…
“The opportunities offered by Birmingham Stage School are absolutely amazing! I was part of BSS for more than 10 years when I was younger, so when my daughters were dancing around the house as babies, there was no question in my mind which stage school they would go to! They have so much fun and have come so far in a short space of time! They love performing and their confidence levels are outstanding! All thanks to the amazing teachers at BSS”
